Each time André Rieu descends on Vrijthof Square in ‘his’ Maastricht for a series of summer evening concerts in July, it is a special moment for both the city and Rieu fans. Some even come to Maastricht from outside the Netherlands because attending a concert in Rieu’s hometown is the ultimate experience for them. On 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, and 12 July, the king of the waltz and classical music will be performing on Vrijthof Square!

This year will be the eleventh time that André Rieu and his Johan Strauss Orchestra will be transforming the Vrijthof into a musical paradise for the waltz, classical music, operetta, and musical highlights. Every year, the audience gets out of their seats to dance a waltz in front of the stage or in the aisles. As in past years, a number of solo artists and guest performers will be included in the programme and Rieu will be treating the audience to the occasional humorous note.

André Rieu Vrijthof 2015 café terrace package
If you are unable to get hold of tickets for André Rieu’s performance, you can combine your concert visit with good food and a glass of good wine or a beer at one of the restaurants around the Vrijthof. The café terrace package combines dinner and a concert ticket. Prior to the concert, you can enjoy a delicious dinner at a long table, after which you can get carried away by the music performed by Rieu and his Johan Strauss Orchestra. You can book a café terrace package through the VVV Maastricht website, although a number of cafés also organize their own package deals.
