One of the top three questions asked by our guests when they arrive at Townhouse is: ‘Where are the good places to eat around here?’ For years, our fantastic reception staff have dined at restaurants in the lovely neighbourhood of Wyck in Maastricht, and we are more than happy to pass the tips we have along to our guests. You will find a large variety of cuisines in Wyck, so there’s always something to suit everyone’s taste. Here is a list of the top five restaurants in the neighbourhood, put together for you by the Townhouse team.
Bouchon d’en Face – Wycker Brugstraat 54
If you are a lover of French cuisine, the best way to enjoy it is in an authentic French bistro. Simple, full of rich flavours, and easy on the wallet, Bouchon d’en Face is the place for you. For those looking for classic dishes such as steak tartare, confit de canard, crème brûlée, and a typical French cheeseboard married with a good glass of wine and charcuterie, this restaurant is the perfect spot to dine.
Harry’s – Wycker Brugstraat 2
We think Harry’s is a fantastic place to eat, especially for Sunday brunch. Their poached eggs are renowned in Maastricht, and their healthy ‘green tornado’ juice or their classic hangover cocktails like Bloody Mary are something to write home about. In the evenings, you can enjoy the most exquisite entrecôte, risotto, or lobster. We also love the Michelin-star quality service at Harry’s.
Restaurant ”O” – Rechtstraat 76
If you tell us that you’re a fish lover, then we’re sure to send you to Restaurant ”O” in Rechtstraat, as this street houses a number of great restaurants. At ”O”, you can dine on oysters, fruits de mer, half a lobster, and fish so fresh that – just like the catch of the day glistening on the menu – you’d think they’d just jumped right out of the ocean.
Le Courage – Rechtstraat 81
If you are a fan of pleasant surprises, then you definitely want to go to Le Courage. Whilst they don’t serve dishes from a menu as such, they do buy fresh produce daily from the market and cook seasonal dishes which complement the weather outside. Trust us when we say their food is delicious! The only thing you need to do is pick a three, four, five, or six-course meal and let the kitchen know if you’re vegetarian or have any food intolerances. Le Courage will take care of the rest.
De Compleminte! van Sint Fiet – Rechtstraat 17
No nonsense and exceedingly tasty, that’s what De Compleminte! van Sint Fiet is all about. From salade niçoise to stews and rabbit haunches, they serve delicious and authentic Limburgian cuisine. In its own FoodFactory located elsewhere in Maastricht, ‘Food van Sint Fiet’ even makes its own artisanal bread, meat dishes, and chocolate. In short, what you get on your plate is all authentic and locally produced.
